Vlahinich ‘07 Named Head Soccer Coach

Saint Joseph Regional High School Director of Athletics Tony Karcich announced the promotion of Christien Vlahinich ‘07 to Head Coach of the Green Knights' soccer program.

"It’s always nice when we have the opportunity to hire one of our own. Having been an outstanding student-athlete at St. Joe’s, Coach Vlahinich knows first-hand what it takes to succeed at SJR,” said Karcich. “He was very effective coaching our freshmen team and we look forward to seeing that same success at the varsity level.”

Vlahinich currently teaches history at Saint Joseph Regional and was the freshmen soccer coach since 2015. As coach of the freshmen squad, he created a positive yet disciplined environment targeted at different areas of development. Vlahinich who is working on his master’s degree at Rutgers University’s Newark campus, also serves in a variety of other capacities in the North Jersey soccer community. He is a trainer with Pro Elite Soccer Academy, an Assistant Coach with Quick Touch Football Club, based in Metuchen, and the U17 Coach and U10 Summer Select Coach for the NJ Heat in Bergen County.

"I am excited to step into this new role” said Vlahinich. “We have a great group of hardworking young men and a strong nucleus that will work to see success.”

Vlahinich was a three-year letterwinner for the Green Knights as a student. He was a First Team All-League and All-County performer as a senior, leading the Green Knights to an 18-4 record while reaching the semifinals in both the county and state tournaments. He continued his soccer career at Rutgers-Newark, ranking ninth in career goals and tenth in career assists upon graduation in 2011.

 Vlahinich lives in Montvale.
