Meet the Counselors & Staff

Thomas M. Krenn- Director of Guidance

Mr. Krenn has been with the Saint Joseph Guidance Department since September 2008. He is the director of the department, managing a student caseload of sophomores, juniors and seniors and oversees the daily operations of the department. Mr. Krenn came to SJR after 38 years at Northern Valley Regional High School, 19 years teaching Special Education and 19Tom Krenn years in guidance. Mr. Krenn earned a BA from Fairfield University and three MA degrees, one from Jersey City University and two from Montclair State University. He is a member of the Bergen County Directors of Guidance Association and the Bergen County Professional Counselors Association. He also serves on the YMCA Sports Award Banquet Committee. Mr. Krenn is the test coordinator at Saint Joseph for the PSAT, SAT, ACT, AP and COOP testing programs and has coached tennis at SJR for 5 years.

Mr. Krenn is married and has five children and five grandchildren.  After a 30 year career playing rugby in college and for a club in NYC, he is now reduced to playing the more mundane sports of tennis and golf. He also enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with the family both at home and at the shore.  
Brother John Dunning,FMS —Guidance Counselor
Brother John has been a Marist Brother for 52 years.  He came to St. Joseph Regional High School Guidance DepBrother Johnt. in 2000. Prior to that he was a guidance counselor at Marist High School in Bayonne, NJ for several years, a social worker in New York and New Jersey and a teacher in New York.  
At St. Joe’s, Br. John is the guidance counselor for the freshmen.  He is also involved in retreat work and coordinates summer volunteers for the Marist Brothers’ Mid-Hudson Valley camp.

Interests include music, tennis, photography and travel.

Arlene DiFiore - Guidance Counselor
Mrs. DiFiore served twenty-six years at Park Ridge high School as a counselor and guidance program leader/testing program coordinator and the last eight years as the Supervisor of Guidance at Ramapo High School in Franklin Lakes.

Mrs. Difiore earned a B.A. in English and Communications at Rutgers University and her M.A. in Student Personnel Services from Montclair State University. Mrs. DiFiore is also a certified School Social WArlene DiFioreorker and a certified Student Assistance Counselor.

Mrs. DiFiore resides in Montvale and loves her new commute to work. She is married to her husband Tom and is the very proud mom of two grown children, Jamie and Tommy. She misses the days of their high school experience, especially watching them on the soccer field, in drama productions, and on the basketball court. Her words of advice for students and parents are to enjoy every minute at St. Joe's graduation comes very quickly! In her spare time Mrs. DiFiore enjoys spending time with her family, traveling with her husband, shopping, and power-walking with her girlfriends.
