Retreat Program
At each grade level, students participate in spiritual and leadership weekend retreats at the Marist Brothers’ House in Esopus, New York. The retreats include Freshman Orientation, Sophomore Leadership, Outdoor Adventure, and Encounter Weekends.

During the summer, many students serve as volunteer counselors at the Mid-Hudson Valley Camp, conducted by the Marist Brothers. These are a series of week-long camps for mentally and physically challenged children and adults, or economically disadvantaged children. Some alumni counselors also return to camp year after year.

Alex Kohn, a retreat leader, volunteer summer counselor and member of the Class of 2010, summed up his four years of Esopus experiences as "more than just a home to the Marist Brothers who live there throughout the year; students often find themselves calling Esopus a second home during their time at Saint Joe’s."
