Learning Center Program at St. Joseph Regional High School

Supporting Success for Every Student

At St. Joseph Regional High School, we are committed to helping students reach their full potential, including those with mild learning disabilities. Our Learning Center Program, launched in September 2005, provides college-bound students with the structure, encouragement, and support they need to excel academically and grow into confident, independent learners.


Program Highlights

Integrated Learning Support

  • All Learning Center students are fully integrated into regular college preparatory courses while receiving additional support tailored to their needs.

Eligibility

  • Students must submit an IEP/ISP with their application to qualify for the program or accommodations.
  • IEP/ISP documents submitted after acceptance may not be honored.

Learning Center Goals

  1. Develop excellent study skills.
  2. Build strong organizational and critical thinking abilities.
  3. Provide academic support across all subject areas.
  4. Foster self-advocacy and independent learning.
  5. Offer remediation in areas needing improvement.

How the Program Works

Daily Learning Center Period

  • Students attend the Learning Center one period per day for individualized support.

Collaboration for Success

  • The Learning Center teacher works closely with the Guidance Department, classroom teachers, and parents to ensure students have the tools and accommodations they need.
  • Approved accommodations may include:
    • Preferential seating.
    • Adjusted testing times.
    • Note-taking assistance.
    • Access to assistive technology.

Progress Monitoring

  • The Learning Center teacher monitors each student’s IEP/ISP, coordinates with Child Study Teams, and provides updates to classroom teachers.
  • Each quarter, students receive a pass/fail grade in the Learning Center based on their progress in:
    • Organizational skills.
    • Study skills.
    • Time management.
