St. Joseph Regional High School is pleased to announce that Daniel Marangi will serve as the new head football coach for the Green Knights.
Coach Marangi was the clear choice by the search committee that included several stakeholders within the St. Joe’s community. Coach Marangi joined the SJR staff in 2017 serving as defensive coordinator as well as a physical education teacher, math teacher, and admissions assistant. In his football capacity, he orchestrated a brilliant defensive performance in the 2018 Non-Public Group 4 State Championship in which the Green Knights shutout Bergen Catholic with a score of 13-0.
Dan Marangi is a 1997 graduate of Don Bosco Prep. He attended Hamilton College where he was a linebacker and was the head of the Sports Department for the school’s radio station. Dan eventually transferred to Drew University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science.
As a defensive coordinator, Dan has a career record of 173-33 and most notably, he has won 10 State Championships and two high school National Championships.
On his appointment Coach Marangi said, “I am thrilled to be entrusted with fostering the mission of St. Joe’s, which is to build the Vir Fidelis, the faithful man. Everything that we do on the football field is directly related to that.”
SJR President Kevin McNulty ‘78 observed, “Dan Marangi offers St. Joe’s an excellent vision for the future of our school and our football program. He provides continuity to our enormously successful past while simultaneously bringing widely recognized ingenuity and creativity. We received applications from a national field of candidates with tremendous experience, yet we believe Dan offers us the best fit for moving forward.”
Dan resides in Washington Township, NJ with wife Elizabeth, 8-year-old daughter Grace, and 6-year-old son Joseph Thomas.
