After having been postponed several times during the winter and early spring because of the pandemic, the Induction Ceremonies for the various SJR Honor Societies was held on May 25. For the first time ever, the event was held outdoors, and Mother Nature cooperated with a beautiful evening that made for a memorable event for the members of the Class of 2022.
Forty-one Green Knights were inducted into the Theodore James Ryken Chapter of the National Honor Society, moderated by Mr. John Vreeland.
Thirty-one students were welcomed into the Saint Theresa of the Child Jesus Spanish Honor Society, moderated by Mr. Cesar Aguero.
Five students were invited to join the St. Dominic Chapter of the French Honor Society, moderated by Ms. Gloria Tsironis.
Aidan Woods was the lone student inductee into the Tri-M Music Honor Society.
In addition, two special scholarships were presented as part of the induction program. The Tony Karcich Leadership Award, emblematic of an individual who is “a shining example of what it means to be ‘the faithful man’”, was presented to Peter Schuh. And the Eric Berninger Memorial Scholarship (in memory of the brother of Nick ’16 and Luke ’19 Berninger) honoring a student “who displays kindness, empathy and compassion for those less fortunate than himself” was presented to Michael Konig.
