Grandparents Day a Huge Success

On Wednesday, October 13, SJR welcomed more than 70 grandparents of current freshmen and sophomores to spend a day at the school.
They gathered for a light breakfast before joining their grandsons in the Inserra Theater for a presentation from Principal Bruno. Sophomore Vice President Jimmy Montesano led the opening prayer, while classmate Frankie Perrone sang the national anthem. Both had grandparents in the audience.
After the presentation, student-led tours took the groups around the building to take a closer look at SJR's 33-acre campus, science labs, gymnasium, chapel and performing arts spaces. Again, it was the students who took the lead as Thomas Brennan, Mike Cevetillo, Brandon Karwoski, Trey Nightingale, Tim O'Sullivan and Perrone provided talking points en route.
The tours ended back at the theater where students completed an assignment laid out by Mr. Woods '16 for his English class in which they conducted interviews to compare and contrast their high school learning experience with that of their grandparents.
The assignment gave them the opportunity to learn more about their grandparent in a comfortable setting before presenting their findings to the larger group.
Class of 2025 and 2026 should mark their calendars for next October!
