Xaverian Brothers Update

Recently, the Xaverian Brothers gathered in both Massachusetts and Kentucky to celebrate the Jubilee anniversaries for many of their own. Among those attending (and being celebrated) were a number of brothers with ties to SJR, either as alumni or as members of the faculty. A brief update of those in attendance at either event:

Br. Gene Behenna, who founded the wrestling program at SJR, celebrated his 75th Jubilee (!) in September. He is living at the Xaverian House in Danvers, MA.

Br. Joseph Britt is a regular at SJR Homecoming and made the trek north to Massachusetts for the Xaverian Jubilee celebration. He lives in Washington, D.C., serving at the Apostolic Nunciature (Vatican Embassy).

Br. Louis Calmel is retired and living at the Ryken House in Louisville, KY. This May, he spent time mentoring Ms. Annalee Abell before she embarked on a missionary journey to teach in Kenya, as he had done following his time at SJR.

Br. William Cushing celebrated his 60th Jubilee in September. He is currently retired and living at the Xaverian House in Danvers, MA.

Br. Timothy Hoey '69 taught for more than 40 years at St. John's Prep and Malden Catholic, both in Massachusetts before retiring prior to his 50th Jubilee in 2019.

Br. Thomas Lydon celebrated his 70th Jubilee in September.

Br. Thomas Puccio '68 is the Director of Mission Integration at Malden Catholic High School in Malden, MA. He recently received an Award of Recognition at the annual XBSS Chief Administrators' meeting for his 35 years of service! He can be found on Twitter at @BroPuccio.
