Dylan Nazario ‘23, an avid gamer, is looking forward to a multitude of excellent games to be released in 2023. Here are five that he can’t wait to play.
- Assassins Creed Mirage
With the recent departure of the series roots, Assassin's Creed Mirage is set to be a return to form for the series. Set in 9th-century Baghdad during the Islamic Golden Age, players will take control of Basim Ibn Ishaq, the assassin featured in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Players can expect Assassin's Creed gameplay to be essentially akin to older games but with an updated version of those mechanics. The developers have stated that the parkour for example is a greatly upgraded version of the Assassin's Creed unity parkour system (the flashiest movement and parkour style in the series). They have also stated that mechanics such as crowd blending and different tactical items will be making a return. Assassins Creed Mirage is set to release sometime in 2023!
- Hogwarts Legacy
The Harry Potter Series is acclaimed for more than just its books and movies. Hogwarts Legacy is a Narrative RPG game set in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Set in the 1890s, the game takes place many years before the events of the Harry Potter books. Players will design their own personalized student who will enter Hogwarts, be sorted in specific houses, and embark on their own adventures. Hogwarts Legacy is expected to release on February 10, 2023.
- Resident Evil 4 Remake
It's been nearly 18 years since the cult classic Resident Evil 4 released in 2005. Selling more than 11 million copies across all platforms, the game is set to undergo the remake treatment this year. The plot follows Leon Kennedy from Resident Evil 2 on his mission to rescue the president's daughter. The remake will have modernized gameplay, cutting edge graphical fidelity, a reimagined story and much more. Relive the horror of this gaming masterpiece on March 24, 2023.
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
Insomniac's sequel to the renowned Marvel Spider-Man needs no introduction. Releasing only on next generation consoles, Insomniac plans to utilize all the power the Playstation 5 has to offer. Players will take control of Peter Parker and Miles Morales as they fight new threats attacking New York. Some confirmed villains include Kraven the hunter and Fan favor Venom voiced by Tony Todd (Candyman). This sequel is expected to release Fall of 2023!
- The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom
The Zelda series is known for crafting masterful games and this sequel will be no different. The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is a continuation of Breath of the Wild (A renowned masterpiece in the gaming industry) and has been anticipated ever since its predecessor was released. The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom will be released on May 12, 2023.
