Freshman Lacrosse

After months of hitting the weight room, getting in extra sprints in and crushing the running test, the Green Knights freshman lacrosse team is ready to kick off its 2023 season.

The freshman team has an amazing lineup to look out for over the next four years, with Shane LaDuca leading the defense, Evan Errigo handling the face-offs, Justin Carmichael and Jayden Baldwin in at midfield, Mick Tarleton and Stefano Delellis at attack and Roman Rodriguez in at goalie. These are just a few great players to note.

On Thursday March 16, the official start date for all spring sports in New Jersey, the Green Knights suited up for their first practice in their high school careers. In preparation for the season, the boys worked on learning plays, practicing game situations and getting in an abundance of conditioning. Team members took on the seasonal run test where they pushed themselves to their limits, ultimately passing them and proving that they are ready to take on their first high school lacrosse season. Over the past week, the freshman squad has been practicing six days a week to better its performance, and it showed during the first scrimmage.

After exactly one week of practice, the freshman took on Paramus High School in their first scrimmage on March 23. In their first game together they came out strong, dominating Paramus High School. The final score was 16-3 after 48 minutes of play. Attackman Mick Tarleton was player of the game and was given the game ball for his dominating performance on the field.

“The game went well. We just have to clean things up a little bit. We have to be more organized and get more settled. Something I like about lacrosse is getting possession and our offense is very good for that because we have 2 guys at X so we can back up the shots. But, I want to see our offense keep our shape and let it fly and get the ball back,” said Coach Tedd, the JV/freshman.

The Green Knights have one more scrimmage against NVOT and seven games on schedule against schools like Bergen Catholic, Mountain Lakes, Don Bosco and Ramapo. The first regular season game is set for April 5th away at Mountain Lakes.
