On Monday, August 12, Saint Joseph Regional High School hosted its largest Golf Classic ever featuring 172 golfers at Upper Montclair Country Club in Clifton.
The event, which included SJR's annual Long Island Golf Raffle, this year at Friar's Head, netted more than $100,000 including nearly $30,000 from the raffle alone.
Rob McMackin '00 won the raffle including an unaccompanied foursome at Friar's Head.
"I'm excited for this event as it continues to grow and grateful to our honoree Mr. Jim Gardella P '09 for lending his support to our efforts," said Director of Advancement Scott Donnelly.
Gardella spoke of his long-time commitment to SJR as well as many local charities while accepting the annual Community Impact Award.
More than 80 alumni from 7 different decades took part in the 2024 event, held at UMCC for the third consecutive seasons. The 27-hole facility with indoor and outdoor dining has proven a great fit for the Green Knights community.
"We could not be able to enjoy a first-rate experience without the generosity of our sponsors, especially our Tournament Hosts: the Neglia Group, the Gardella Family, the McDonagh Family, Mayrich Construction and IWS," added Donnelly.
