On Tuesday, November 12th, twenty-one of our junior and senior students had the exciting opportunity to visit Iona University in New Rochelle, NY. The day was filled with immersive experiences, as the boys explored the vibrant campus, engaged with current students, and got a firsthand look at the university's many academic and extracurricular offerings.
Iona University staff gave our students a warm welcome, starting with a comprehensive campus tour that showcased the best of what Iona has to offer. The tour wrapped up with a pizza lunch, where our boys got to relax and chat about their favorite parts of the visit.
While exploring the athletic facilities, the students were thrilled to catch an actual game in action at the Hynes Athletic Center, where Iona’s women’s basketball team was playing against Navy. Right next door, they witnessed a lively water polo practice, offering a glimpse into the university's active sports culture.
The tour also included a visit to Iona’s state-of-the-art Esports Room. Iona’s Esports program is rapidly gaining recognition, with their team recently winning the 2024 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship in League of Legends. The team competes in both the MAAC and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), having traveled to Atlantic City for regional competitions. This visit was a highlight for our students interested in gaming and technology, providing inspiration for potential collegiate Esports careers.
Our students also explored the Hynes Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, where they learned about Iona’s commitment to nurturing creative thinkers and future business leaders. The institute offers hands-on experiences and resources for students looking to turn their innovative ideas into reality.
The visit concluded with tours of Iona’s dormitories and dining hall, allowing our students to envision life on campus. They were impressed by the comfortable living spaces and modern dining options, making Iona University a potential choice for their future studies.
This enriching trip not only gave our students a taste of college life but also highlighted the diverse academic and extracurricular opportunities available at Iona University. Many thanks to Iona for their hospitality and for providing such a memorable experience for our boys!
Stay tuned for more updates on future college visits as we continue to prepare our students for the next steps in their educational journeys.
