SJR Clubs and Activities

Please see a list of current clubs and activities below. For more information about any club/activity listed below, click the arrow to the right of the club/activity. Unless otherwise specified, all students are welcome to participate. 
All SJR students are able to print STL designs daily using our 9 Dremel 3D printers.. Club members meet weekly to collaboratively design (TinkerCAD or other CAD software), render, slice, and troubleshoot.
The yearbook staff will produce the 2024 edition of the Aegis yearbook. Students are needed to photograph school activities, write about them, place and caption photos and generally edit the 180 pages of this year's book. Much of the work can be done on the computer at home using Yearbook Avenue though there will be weekly meetings to check on progress. Most of the work is done from November through mid-April. 
Art Club is for the student who loves to draw and for those who just want to learn. We will draw, paint, and do other fun things. 
All instrumentalists are invited to attend. Performances include the Christmas Concert and assembly, Spring Cabaret Knight and other functions throughout the year. 
Dedicated to promoting devotion to the Bl. Emperor Karl of Austria (beatified by Pope John Paul II in 2005). We meet to pray and discuss important Catholic issues, religious, social, and historical. 
Informal games are played daily before and after school. Students may decide to formally meet as a group after school. 
The chorus performs at school Masses and at the December holiday concert and the end of year Cabaret Knight. You need not to have sung in middle school or elementary chorus to attend. All are welcome!! 
Come and discuss issues of social and moral concern in an informal setting while eating DONUTS(!). 
The main goal of the Ecology Club is to raise awareness of global environmental isses, interact with the the SJR community through various activities, maintain the outdoor classroom/native habitat, go on nature hikes, and plan Earth week activities in the spring. 
Just a club to find a fishing hole. Find a fishing buddy for the day or just tell a tale about what was caught!! 
 The Health and Fitness Club will discuss topics related to nutrition and fitness including different types of diets and physical training correlated to it. We will watch videos, discuss fitness, and exercise techniques. We will dive into some of the controversial issues in the fitness community with the goal of understanding what is scientifically verifiable information. The goal is to foster a lifestyle of health and strength. We will analyze the science of nutrition and fitness. By doing so, we will identify the pros and cons of the fitness world.

Experience Italian culture! Students with an interest in the Italian language and culture will participate in activities and events to broaden their knowledge. Students will have the opportunity to learn and interact in the Italian language and experiencing elements of Italian influence in sports, food, art, history, and music. Come interact with other students and promote the Italian culture to the SJR community and beyond. 
The Marist Club is intended to help students understand and live out the values espoused by the Marist Tradition. This will involve learning about the spiritual practices of the Marists as well as their approach to life and brotherhood. The club also participates in and hosts service activities as helping the poor is core to the mission of the brothers. 
All welcome for help in all subject areas.  
Performing Arts is the only co-ed activity at St. Joe’s as girls from IHA, AHA, and public high school are welcome to audition for shows and/or sing in the chorus. Performing Arts involves members of every athletic team as there is no conflict with sports. All skill levels are welcome to join chorus, band, or the theater department as cast or stage crew. Performing arts students develop skills in communication, public speaking, confidence, and collaboration while having a fun time. This is why our motto is: “Theater Skills are Skills for Life.” 
The Green Knights Ambassadors serve in a variety of capacities within the SJR community including giving tours to prospective families and hosting prospective students as part of our Knight for a Day program. These students are considered the "best of the best" at St. Joe's as they volunteer their time at many SJR functions (Open House, Accepted Students Knight, Registration day, and more). In addition, many Ambassadors serve as Big Brothers to incoming Freshman. 
Come and carve up Mountain Creek Ski Resort on a snowboard or skis on one or all three of the school's trips. 
Spanish club at SJR enables students to learn about the Spanish language, culture, and history outside the classroom. The goal is to foster students' love of the Spanish language and introduce them to different aspects of the Hispanic culture through food, arts, and entertainment. 
Learn about stocks, bonds, retirement planning, investing, and budgeting and how it relates to the economy in a fun and informative environment. 
SJR's student government. Officers and Senators are elected by the student body. Class Representatives are not elected. Student Council runs the proms, monthly fundraisers, special events, and offer policy changes to the school's administration. All students are welcome to each weekly meeting.

The Guardian is a student run paper with articles about current events, school activities, entertainment, student life, and sports. 
Founded in 1922 to unite people of Italian heritage in an organization to perform charitable, patriotic and educational deeds. UNICO’s motto is “Service Above Self”. UNICO means “unique” or “only one of its kind” in Italian and additionally, the letters represent: U-Unity, N-Neighborliness, I-Integrity, C-Charity and O-Opportunity. We will be conducting Monthly Social Outreach and of course playing on our Bocce ball court! Any student with an Italian link is eligible to join.
