Joanne Cavera is the Science Department Chair and has been a teacher at St. Joseph Regional High School for 13 years. Mrs. Cavera holds degrees in Biology and Education, 2 Masters Degrees in Science and Education and Business Administration and is certified in the sciences and business administration. Working for the Archdiocese of Newark for 20 years, she has been a part of designing the science curriculum for K-8; working to foster mathematics education, incorporating STREAM in the science curriculum and designing an engineering project-based course for high school students. Awarded Teacher of the Year in 2017 for the Archdiocese of Newark she was then chosen as a finalist for Teacher of the Year for nonpublic school teachers for the state of New Jersey.
I entered the field of education because I love learning and and fostering that love in my students. My passion for nature, science and environmental health, then raising student and school awareness to these issues have been my educational goals for over 40 year.
