Peer Leadership

Campus Ministry Leadership

Campus Ministry Leadership is a new course at SJR. It fulfills a senior's theology requirement and addresses the same senior theology curriculum while also challenging seniors to meet the needs of our school's retreats. The course is selective and students must apply in the 4th quarter of their junior year. The applications require recommendations. Candidates are interviewed before Mr. Becker accepts them into the course.

The work of the course brings these seniors to the forefront of every part of retreats, liturgies, and many service projects as Campus Minister Leaders. They work closely with Mr.Becker to plan in detail each class retreat and liturgy, using their creativity. The Campus Ministry Leaders also operate as peer leaders on the retreats - they give talks as witnesses to their faith and to their SJR experience, they lead small groups that allow every student a safe space to be heard, and they lead by their presence and example in all things.
Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist

In senior year, students have the opportunity to become Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist, or Eucharistic Ministers. Training takes place on school grounds, at the very beginning of the school year, and led by theology chair, Mr. Joel Peters. Those trained for this ministry will be installed at the Mass of the Holy Spirit as we begin our school year.
