Spirit Week
December 16th-20th

New this year, Spirit Week is a weeklong effort to combine our school spirit and Christmas spirit to build a more family community at SJR. The week has 8 football players at signing day, 5 dress downs, 3 charitable collections, 2 Adopt-a-Grandparent outings, and a prayer service on a half day.

On Monday, there will be a $10 dress down sale, which allows for 4 dress down days (Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri - Wednesday will be free for everyone).

The money from this dress down sale will be split up among the charities chosen by the students, depending on how well each grade participates in the week's events.

All of the events of the week are part of a competition for points:
  • percentage of each grade that participates in the dress down day
  • most items brought in for each charitable collection
  • best decorated tree by end of the week

The points matter to determine which grade wins the Spirit Week Prize and how much money will be spent to the chosen charities. Each grade will vote on the charity to represent on Monday through an online Google form

Dress Down Days:
There will be a $10 dress down day sale on Monday, 12/16. Students will be checked off on a list so we can tally percentages of each grade that participate. The students will be given a plastic wristband to last the week (students do not have to wear on wrist but must be kept with them all week)
  • Monday - open dress down
  • Tuesday - school colors by grade (see calendar)
  • Wednesday - Ugly Christmas Sweater - FREE FOR EVERYONE
  • Thursday - Santacan (dress up like old St. Nick)
  • Friday - color's of each grade's charity

Collections:
On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, we will have a collection in the morning. Students are asked to bring the requested items into the Lounge to the designated box/corner.
  • Tuesday: Toiletries - shampoo, conditioner, body wash, bar soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, razors, shaving gel, deodorant, feminie hygiene products, NO MOUTHWASH
  • Wednesday: Winter Coats - new or gently used, good condition to pass on
  • Thursday: Baby Toys, Rattles, & Teethers - (benefitting St Joseph's Children's Hospital)
    • Often, these babies in the hospital are forgotten as people think to buy and donate toys for older children. Let's help make Christmas a special time for these babies and their families by remembering them this year!
    • Any baby teethers MUST be fully sealed/packaged from manufacturer. Also, no stuffed animals allowed.

Christmas Tree Decorating:
Each grade will have a tree in the cafeteria to decorate all week. All students are asked to bring in an ornament (traditional or creative and original) to contribute and make it the best looking tree for their grade. This will be judged on Friday by a panel of faculty.

Spirit Week Prize:
The grade with most points by week’s end gets a hot catered lunch from the restaurant of grade’s choice AND their chosen charity gets highest payout. And, of course, bragging rights in the school... until SJR Pride Week.
The flyers below hold the cost and payment dates for each event. Also, click below to see the info packets for all the info on each party, permission slips and guest contract.

Semi-Formal has been canceled.

Pride Week is aimed at building school spirit while expressing the true mission of SJR - the faithful man who is well-rounded and prepared to answer the needs of society. Each of the four grades will elect a charity to represent. Through a variety of activities, the four grades will compete to earn points. Points will be awarded for 1st to 4th places. The grade with the most points will earn their chosen charity the biggest pay out. However, all four charities will receive a portion of the proceeds from the February 14th Dress Down, in descending percentages.
