Retreats
Spiritual Retreat Opportunities at SJR
At St. Joseph Regional High School, retreats are a cornerstone of our mission to nurture the spiritual, emotional, and personal growth of every student. Through meaningful experiences, students are encouraged to reflect, pray, and deepen their connection to faith and community.
Marist Youth Encounter for Upperclassmen
The Marist Youth Encounter is an unforgettable retreat experience that brings upperclassmen from several Marist high schools together for a time of:
- Reflection
- Prayer
- Fellowship
Designed especially for seniors as a heartfelt way to conclude their high school journey, juniors are also welcome to participate. Students who attend describe it as a truly transformative experience—one that is impossible to fully capture in words.
To understand the Encounter, you simply have to live it.
Class Retreats
Every grade level at SJR participates in an annual retreat, giving all students the opportunity to reflect on their spiritual journey and grow in faith. These day-long retreats are held during regular school hours and conclude by dismissal time.
Attendance is mandatory, ensuring every student can benefit from this time of personal and spiritual reflection.
Overnight Retreats
For a deeper and more immersive experience, overnight retreats offer students the chance to explore specific themes such as:
- Servant Leadership
- Diversity and Unity
- Spiritual Growth
These retreats take place at the serene Marist Brothers’ Center in Esopus, NY, providing an ideal setting for personal reflection, community building, and deepening faith.
Whether it is a one-day retreat or an overnight experience, SJR’s retreat programs create opportunities for our young men to grow closer to God, build lasting bonds with their peers, and develop into men of faith and integrity.
