Green Knights Ready for Semfinals After Win over BC

By: Devon Cambian '26

SJR completed a 2-game sweep over archrivals Bergen Catholic after a 7-6 win on Monday and a 6-1 win on Wednesday.

In the first meeting, the Green Knights were powered by big offensive performances from Ryan McCabe and Kevin Foley, who each tallied 3 RBIs. On the mound, Sean Radwan had a very strong performance. Radwan pitched the final five innings of the game, striking out six batters, while allowing just two hits to preserve the close victory at home.

The Green Knights and Crusaders met again, this time in Oradell on Wednesday afternoon. This time, it was the pitching of SJR that stole the show. Senior Griffin Buntzen got the start, and he was a force to be reckoned with. The Alvernia University signee tossed 100 pitches, striking out five batters and completely shut down the Crusaders offense. Offensively, Ryan McCabe and Lorenzo Zeccardi led the way with a pair of RBIs each. Justin Olivo also tacked on an RBI, ensuring another victory for SJR.

The Green Knights continue their hot streak and it couldn't have come at a better time as head coach Mark Cieslak and his team will now turn their attention to Saturday as they will take on Ramapo, looking to clinch a spot in the Bergen County finals.
