SJR visits NBC Sports Global Headquarters

On Tuesday, Mr. Asselta’s Exploring Media class, along with members of the SJR Media
leadership team, took a field trip to Stamford, Connecticut to explore the NBC Sports Group
Headquarters.

While on the NBC campus, the students toured NBC Sports’ global headquarters getting an
exclusive, inside-look at one of the biggest sports media outlets in the world. The day began
with a full tour as the students visited control rooms, production booths and the main television
studios where highly popular sports programs are produced, such as NBA Showtime, Sunday
Night Football, and Premier League Mornings. The group also visited announcer booths that
were used to broadcast during the most recent Winter Olympics in Italy The students also had a chance to spend time with SJR Alum and 3-time Super Bow champion Devin McCourty. McCourty '05, who works as a host and analyst on Football Night in America, took the group through several areas of the facility and explained the roles and responsibilities of various jobs.

During lunch, the students gathered around to eat and have a fun Q&A session with Mr.
McCourty. He answered questions about his experience at NBC and winning the Super Bowl
with his brother Jason, also an SJR alum. He also talked about what it was like to be coached
by Bill Belichick and how SJR helped him become the man he is today.

The overall experience was truly unique. Getting an up-close view of the work that goes on
behind the scenes to broadcast some of the world’s biggest sporting events was truly eye
opening.

students.
