SJR Students Help Lead Inserra Shoprite Ramsey Charitable Drive

On Tuesday, March 12, a group of SJR students visited the Inserra ShopRite of Ramsey to take part in its recognition as one of the best fundraisers for ShopRite’s Partners in Caring charity program. Throughout September 2023, several SJR students took time out of their busy weekends to help ShopRite of Ramsey’s efforts to raise money and collect food for the Center for Food Action in Mahwah, New Jersey. With the dedicated help of SJR and the store’s employees, the ShopRite of Ramsey raised over $64,500 as a part of their Partners in Caring contribution. The store achieved the honor of the second overall highest ShopRite fundraiser, and because of ShopRite’s partnership with General Mills, the store managers were featured on a box of Cheerios. Additionally, the ShopRite of Ramsey donated a total of $7,500 to the Center for Food Action, compared to only $500 in previous years.

Carter Panepinto ‘27, Christopher Pinto-Spiegel ‘26, Elliot Santiago ‘26, Jayden Baldwin ‘26, Nicholas Pantano ‘25, and Joseph Panepinto ‘25 all attended the event because of their time spent at the ShopRite of Ramsey in early September before the school year even began! Christopher Pinto-Spiegel, who served at the store three times, gave a speech on behalf of SJR towards the end of the ceremony. The students were accompanied by Mr. Scott Donnelly ‘02, who played a key role in setting up the service opportunity, and President Mr. Bob Fazio. The employees at the ShopRite of Ramsey are hopeful that SJR will continue assisting them in their Partners in Caring fundraisers in the months to come.
