Tom Krenn To Retire

Tom Krenn will be retiring at the end of the 2018 – 2019 school year.

Mr. Krenn has served as the Director of Guidance since the 2008 – 2009 school year. Prior to coming to St. Joe’s, Mr. Krenn was employed in the Northern Valley School District, both at Demarest and Old Tappan. The first nineteen years of his professional experience was spent in Special Education classrooms working with students with varied disabilities. For eighteen years, he was in the Guidance Department in Demarest as both a guidance counselor and lead counselor. As lead counselor, Mr. Krenn oversaw five counselors and three support staff and was responsible for the daily operation of the department.

Mr. Krenn has always been a knowledgeable, responsible and dedicated guidance counselor who always strived to create an atmosphere of courtesy and cooperation with the administration, faculty, parents and students alike.

All told, Mr. Krenn has served in education for 49 years, and he will be truly missed.

Mrs. Arlene DiFiore will be taking over as the Director of Guidance.

Mrs. Laura Moore will be joining the Guidance Department as a counselor for Grades 10–12.

Mrs. Moore has a B.S. from Oklahoma State University in Business Administration and a M.A. from Southern Methodist University in Student Personnel Services. She has been employed at Ridgewood High School for the past 30 years serving as a guidance counselor. She has served as lead counselor and site manager for Naviance. While at Ridgewood, she has also taught accounting, economics, marketing and sports and entertainment marketing.

As she transitions to SJR, Mrs. Moore says, “My goal is to cultivate, stimulate, and support inclusive environments that allows students to reach their highest academic and personal potential. Finding a great college for any student is about finding the right fit. College is a time of building character, self-worth, self-exploration, and marketable skills through an institution that will embrace those goals. I am excited to meet the students at SJR!”
