At SJR, opportunity is the thing.
For Ashton Samson '23, that means finding ways to pursue his passion for academics....and movies!
Samson came to SJR looking for something "entirely different" than the Village School in Waldwick, an opportunity to see things from a new perspective.
As a member of the Ecology and Italian Clubs as well as UNICO and The Guardian, he has certainly gone above and beyond to get involved. He serves as entertainment editor for The Guardian, where he reviews movies, theater and other forms of media.
When asked for his favorite all-time movie, the Franklin Lakes native doesn't hesitate: "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly because it was one of the first classic movies my father showed me. I love everything about it - the acting, the story and the themes."
Off campus, he has a paying gig as a reviewer for SuzeeBehindTheScenes.com and recently picked up an internship with The Women's History Institute, transcribing documents and digitizing content for a more modern audience.
In the classroom, he is taking three AP classes (he enjoys AP English the best) and earned Principal's List recognition in the first marking period.
Nominated by Mr. DeVito.
