Student of the Week: Jake Persaud '23

Jake Persaud '23 knows he wants a career in sports management. He's taking advantage of the opportunity at SJR to refine that desire.

"I want to get into the business side of sports," explained the Bergenfield native. "I like the dealings with contracts and building a roster."

For now, Persaud balances his time between the classroom, working on his Eagle Scout project and supporting the Green Knights in a manager role.

He carried an impressive 96.0 GPA in the second marking period, earning Honor Roll recognition with a challenging schedule featuring Pre-Calculus, AP English, Spanish III and, his favorite course, Honors Economics.

Currently a Life Scout, he is planning his Eagle project for Troop 1345 in Dumont, hoping to repair damage in his community from the summer hurricanes that came through New Jersey.

This winter, he got involved helping out with the basketball program, setting up for practices and games, and has even assisted the athletic trainers - most recently at the match against Bergen Catholic.

As for the next step, Persaud isn't sure, but thinks he'll be happy "at any college with a good sports program so I can get involved."
