Student of the Week: Alex Balcioglu '23

Alex Balcioglu '23 is making the most of his senior year in the classroom. He has earned Principal's List recognition in both marking periods and boasted a 103 GPA after midterms.

Balcioglu hopes to study economics next year, eyeing Boston College and Lehigh University as preferred destinations.

To prepare for collegiate rigors, he is taking electives in marketing, probability/statistics and AP Economics. But his favorite class this year is actually AP Psychology.

"With all my classes, especially my APs, we're able to express ourselves and collaborate," the New Milford native explained. "Guys are genuinely interested in the subject and one idea builds on another in our discussions. It's one of the things I like most about St. Joe's."

Balcioglu works at the Walgreens in Oradell, but finds time for after-school activities. He is the student leader of the Chess Club and a section leader of the Stock Market Club. A member of the National Honor Society, he also serves on SJR's Student Council. In his spare time, he enjoys drawing, listening to music and hanging out with friends.
