SJR Names Dan Davis '99 Head Basketball Coach

St. Joseph Regional High School is proud to announce that Daniel Davis '99 has been
hired as the new head coach of the Green Knights basketball program.

Coach Davis brings a wealth of experience and success to the program. With nearly 20 years of coaching
under his belt, he has served as the head coach of the program's freshman team, which has won three
county championships under his leadership, the most recent of which was won at the conclusion of the
2023 season.

As an alumnus of St. Joe's, Coach Davis has a deep understanding and appreciation for the school's
values and traditions. He is committed to continuing the legacy of excellence established by longtime
coach and mentor Michael Doherty '82, and to instill in his players the same sense of pride and
dedication that he feels for the school. "It's been my privilege and pleasure to work alongside Dan Davis
for the last two decades. He is one of the finest people and basketball coaches I know. Our
student-athletes, present and future, couldn't possibly be led by anyone better," said Doherty.

"I am honored to be named as head coach of this incredible program," said Coach Davis. "My time at St.
Joe's had a profound impact on my life, and I am excited to have the opportunity to honor the legacy of
this proud program while also being the catalyst behind its growth."

Athletic Director Dan Marangi is equally thrilled about the hiring of Coach Davis. "I am excited to have
this program in such capable hands. Coach Davis' commitment to the basketball program is unwavering.
His experience, passion, and dedication to our school make him the perfect choice to lead our program
to new heights."

As a player for the Green Knights, Coach Davis earned all-league and 2nd team all-county honors. After
graduating, he played and started for the Division II Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas College (Sparkill,
NY), where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Coach Davis also serves as a
Theology, Marketing, and Physical Education teacher at the school.
