SJR Musical: Les Miserales

SJR Les Miserables Reunion Recap & Establishment of Les Miserables Award

The "Welcome Home Night" during the February 2 performance of our recent production of Les Miserables marked a significant moment in the St. Joe's theater program's history.

The reunion of friends and cast members from the 2004 and 2011 editions of Les Miserables created an amazing atmosphere due to shared experiences. The night was filled with nostalgia, as old friends reunited, memories were revisited, and the magic of the SJR Performing Arts program was relived.

The highlight of the evening came when the alumni joined the 2024 cast on stage to sing "One Day More," creating an unforgettable moment that will be cherished for years to come.

Having witnessed 32 years of remarkable events here at SJR, it's clear that the impact goes beyond just high school theater. The growth of students as performers and individuals, the enduring friendships that have blossomed, and the unique camaraderie within the Les Miserables cast stand out among the many shows over the years.

The profound storyline of Les Mis has touched the hearts of everyone involved, embodying themes of compassion and unity that have become synonymous with the spirit of theater. The creation of the "Les Miserables Award," aimed at awarding scholarships to deserving students who exhibit outstanding character, further cements the legacy of Les Miserables at St. Joe's, ensuring that its spirit lives on through future generations of talented performers. I want to invite the families of the 2024 Les Mis Cast to join with the Les Mis Cast of 2004 and 2011 in creating this unique and very meaningful award.  Details on how to do that can be found in the link below.

TO THE CAST:

CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations and welcome to “LES MISERABLES”, the 2023-2024 SAINT JOSEPH REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL.  You should be very proud of how well you demonstrated your talents in auditions and especially proud of being chosen from among the very talented students who wanted to be in this show. We all look forward to working with you and the rest of our extremely gifted cast as we put together what promises to be one of the best shows ever performed at Saint Joe's.

Our first rehearsal is scheduled for Sunday Nov 12th with Time to be determined.  We will explain who the named characters are and the important part they play in telling the story of LES MIS. We will also explain the expectations of the production team, discuss the show, explain the roles and start to get to know each other better. A rehearsal schedule for the rest of the month will be given out at that meeting.

Please remember to bring the last page of your packet, the cast member agreement signed by you and your parents and your participation fee ( $350 check made out to St. Joseph Regional Hs – ITW )  to the Sunday Nov 12th rehearsal.

If for some reason you cannot be there on Sunday Nov 12th  or you are no longer interested in being in this show, please email [email protected] .

Once again congratulations and we look forward to seeing you on Sunday, Nov 12th

Les Miserables Callback Information

Thank you for your interest in St. Joseph Regional HS’s production of Les Miserables.

We have had a tremendous turnout of talented young performers for this year's auditions for our Winter Musical, Les Miserables. In an effort to cast the lead and featured performers, we will need some students to come back this Sunday, Oct. 29th. Information on who will be asked back for callbacks will be posted on the SJR Performing Arts page on SJR’s school website by midnight on Friday, Oct. 27th. You can find the callback list by clicking HERE or scanning the QR code below.

Callback QR Code

Not everyone will be called back but that does not mean you will not be invited to be part of the cast. Many students not called back will still be in the cast of Les Mis. With over 120 students auditioning, not everyone will be invited to be in the cast. Those not in the cast will be invited to be part of the stage crew and still be a part of this production.

A final cast list will be posted next week.

CALLBACK SCHEDULE:

  • 3:00 pm – BOYS
  • 5:00 pm – GIRLS
  • 6:30 pm – YOUTH (Young Cosette & Gavroche)
  • 7:30 pm – COMPLETE CALLBACKS

Callbacks are a tedious process and to be fair to each person it takes time. We will begin by staggering arrival and allow students to leave at different times until the callbacks are fully complete. Please instruct parents and guardians that you will text them when to be picked up. Any questions or concerns please contact Rosey Lambert at [email protected]

SJR Winter Musical – Les Miserables

St. Joseph Regional High School’s Nationally Recognized and Award-Winning Performing Arts Program has announced that its winter musical will be Les Misérables.

Les Misérables is arguably one of the greatest musicals of all time.  Les Mis is an epic musical based on Victor Hugo’s classic novel of the same name. Set in 19th-century France, the story revolves around Jean Valjean, a former prisoner who breaks parole and embarks on a journey of redemption. As Valjean seeks to rebuild his life, he becomes entangled in the revolutionary events of the time, including the June Rebellion of 1832. Through interwoven stories and memorable characters, the musical explores themes of second chances, love, justice, sacrifice, and the pursuit of freedom.

Auditions are Thursday, Oct 26th for High School Girls and Friday, Oct 27th for St. Joe’s Boys with special youth auditions for Grades 3-8 on Friday, Oct 27th at 4 PM for the parts of Young Cosette and Gavroche.  Audition information and registration can be found here:  Les Mis Audition Info

Rehearsals will begin in November on Monday through Thursday nights and Sunday afternoons with performances on Jan 24th through Feb 2nd. Cast members only need to attend rehearsals they are called for.  All major roles are double-cast whenever possible.
