Guidance Offers Local Volunteer Opportunities

The SJR Guidance Department organized a meet and greet with local community service organizations on Wednesday, November 10. Students had the opportunity to learn more about volunteer opportunities at the following organizations:

Camp Acorn - a year-round enrichment program located in Allendale, NJ for children and adults with special needs.

S.H.A.R.E. (Senior Housing Association of Ridgewood and Environs) - a non-profit organization that provides housing and services to senior citizens. Through the Guest Chef program, volunteers can cook meals for residents on the weekends or they can host activities and games.

Montvale Environmental Commission - a commission dedicated to addressing environmental concerns and protecting the environment for future generations. Members engage in a variety of environmental activities to protect natural resources and encourage their wise use.

UNICO A.C.E.S. - a program at SJR open to those of Italian descent, providing members with the opportunity to become more familiar with their heritage, culture, traditions while also serving their community.

Community service is an important component of the high school experience at SJR as we develop the Vir Fidelis.
