Class of 1969 50th Reunion Gift

From October 4-6, 2019, the SJR Class of 1969 enjoyed its 50th Reunion. The weekend-long event featured golf on Friday and a gathering at the home of Mary Higgins Clark, Warren's mother. On Saturday, the '69 class was on the field for the coin toss (John Bykowsky had the honor) as SJR defeated Paramus Catholic 21-14 on the gridiron. In the evening, the Class of '69 gathered on campus for cocktails, school tours, dinner and dancing to the new official class band – Alive & Kickin’. On Sunday, the group got together one more time for mass, followed by brunch at school.

"All of those who attended recalled fondly our days at St. Joe’s and the Christian community we became. Whether or not you were at the reunion, we can all mark the milestone of our reunion and create a permanent legacy to perpetuate that sense of Christian community by participating in the 50th Anniversary Capital Fund that our class is launching. Our goal is to make the lead gift for the new Community Center, which will be built as part of the renovation of former administrative offices. This space, which will face into the newly renovated courtyard will serve as the primary meeting place for prospective students, current students and alumni to gather, connect and bond.

The Class of 1969 Community Center will be a fitting tribute to the strength of the bonds we all created with both the school and one another during our time at the school and since. A floor plan and an artist rendering of the center are available at sjrnj.org/69gift/.

Our goal for the 50th Anniversary Capital Fund is $500,000. A handful of classmates have already pledged, collectively, well over $100,000. We would like to get all of our classmates involved in the fundraising and the school has agreed to allow us to fund our pledges over five years. No five-year pledge is too small to make as we want everyone to be part of sponsoring the Class of 1969 Community Center. And, for those in the position to do so, the five year time frame can allow you to magnify a once in a lifetime commitment to our school. By participating in the 50th Anniversary Capital Fund, we continue to support SJR’s mission of providing an excellent, well-rounded education in the spirit of our heritage as the Vir Fidelis, the man of faith, while at the same time leaving a tangible legacy to the wonderful Christian community we created in our years at SJR, and as alumni. So please open up your heart…and your wallet and join your classmates in funding the Class of 1969 Community Center at St Joe’s."
